Grid Integration of a Single-Source Switched-Capacitor Multilevel Inverter with Boosting Capability
Authors
Abstract:
This paper investigates the connection of a single-phase multilevel inverter structure to an existing power grid. The applied voltage source inverter is able to generate a near sinusoidal voltage waveform with an amplitude six times the input voltage by using a single DC input power supply. A proportional-resonant (PR) controller regulates the injected current into the grid. While the EPLL is used to ensure the synchronization of the phase and frequency of the output voltage with the grid. The performance of the grid-connected inverter under different loading conditions was simulated in MATLAB software. Finally, the simulation results were compared with the experimental ones. In addition, the behavior of the inverter in standalone operating mode supplying a local load as well as its performance in the grid-tied with a constant and variable current reference was evaluated. The correct operation of the inverter in all operating modes an achieving 96.9% efficiency along with the self-voltage balancing of the capacitors, makes it suitable for grid-integration of the low voltage renewable energy sources’ applications.

An LCL-filtered Single-phase Multilevel Inverter for Grid Integration of PV Systems
Integration of the PV into the electrical grid needs power electronic interface. This power electronic interface should have some key features and should come up with grid codes. One of the important criteria is the quality and harmonic contents of the current being injected to the grid. High-order harmonics of the grid current should be very limited (lower than 0.3% of the fundamental current)...

Single-source binary hybrid multilevel inverters with cascaded transformers have a bulky transformer connected to their main H-bridge cells in each phase. This bulky transformer has been eliminated in this work without any effect on operation and modulation strategies. The proposed topology has significant advantages from view point of dimensions and number of transformers, design of transforme...

Multilevel inverters are a new generation of DC-AC converters at medium and high voltage and power levels. These converters have made great strides in the use of industrial applications compared to conventional two-level inverters due to lower harmonic distortion, filter size, EMI and dv/dt. Besides these merits, some disadvantages can be mentioned such as more power electronics devices and com...

In this paper, we are using multilevel inverter by using switching capacitor for PV grid. Now a day’s multilevel inverters have become more popular over the years in electric high power application with the promise of less disturbances and the possibility to function at lower switching frequencies than ordinary two-level inverters. So by cascading multilevel inverter the output voltage will be ...
full textNew Coupled-Inductor Based Multilevel Inverter with Extension Capability
Multilevel inverters have been developed due to limitations of the conventional two-level voltage source inverters (VSIs). Most of the topologies of multilevel inverters that have been presented in the literature are based on the sharing of the rated voltage between the switches so that the switches with lower voltage ratings can be used. In these topologies, the current rating of all of the sw...
